COMMUNITIES

Empowering the Community

Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death in the United States for people between the ages of 1 and 44 years. First aid from bystanders has been shown to save lives.

In Conjunction with Northwestern Trauma & Surgical Initiative,

Our Team at Sadanah has

75

Conducted over 75 free Trauma First Responder Courses all over Chicago, training bystanders from different communities to take action in an event of a traumatic injury.

1500

Trained over 1500 community members across Chicago, giving them the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to provide rapid and effective care to trauma victims and empowering them to take an active role in caring for those affected by violence.

09

Instructed high school students from 9 different schools in 2 different school districts and plan to continue to incorporate additional schools in the future.

Our research in India is based in the rural community of Nanakpur, Haryana.

With the help of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER,) we at Sadanah are training first responders, advocating for Nanakpurs community health workers, and collaborating with the local government in Haryana to improve access to trauma and surgical care.

Indian Health Initiative

Our Initiative

In an effort to reduce injury morbidity and mortality within the Bolivian population, we at Sadanah facilitate the creation of evidence-based policy and interventions for injury prevention and trauma care quality improvements.

Bolivian Trauma Initiative

An estimated 4.8 to 5.8 million global deaths are attributable annually to injuries, with 90% occurring in low- and middle-income countries like Bolivia. Effective trauma systems lead to improved patient survival, with up to a 20% decrease in mortality and improved functional outcomes.
